Martial Music for the Fife
Fifers from all over the world frequently ask me for suggestions as to where they can obtain fife music with harmony parts. In the old manuscripts, harmony parts turn up occasionally, but never in just one source. It has often placed me in quite a dilemma.
Over the course of more than a few years, I have observed Don Heminitz develop from a young kid getting those first sounds from a plastic fife into quite a skilled musician. He is now a music major in college, learning many things that I will probably never know.
Don has assembled a collection of fife tunes into one book complete with wonderful harmony parts entitled Martial Music for the Fife. It contains a total of thirty tunes, as follows:
| Baltimore Quickstep | Green Cockade |
Battle Cry of Freedom | Harriott (The) |
| Blackbird (The) | Just Before the Battle, Mother |
| British Grenadiers | Kingdom Coming |
| Campbells are Coming (The) | Minstrel Boy (The) |
| Chain Cotillion | Misty Morning |
| Chester | Poor Cato |
| Cotillion the Gesuit | Red, White, and Blue (The) |
| Dancing in the Meadow | Rose Tree (The) |
| Duke of Kent's Slow March | Something, Anything, Whatever You Want |
| Dusky Night | Successful Campaign |
| Dutch (The) | To Anachreon in Heaven |
| Ed Kellogg's Quickstep | Wearing of the Green |
| Eighteen-Twelve Quickstep | Wrecker's Daughter |
| Goober Peas | Yankee Doodle |
